Day 01: Huaraz – Cebollapampa (3850 m) – Pisco base camp (4676 m).
Hiking time: 4 hours approx.
From Huaraz with the vehicle we moved to Cebollapampa for about 3 hours approx. During the trip we will be able to appreciate two beautiful lagoons in the Llanganuco valley called Chinancocha and Orconcocha. We will continue until we reach Cebollapampa, where we will start our hike to the Pisco base camp, where we will camp.
Day 02: Base camp – Summit Nevado Pisco 5752 m – Base camp
Time: 8 to 9 hours approx between ascent and descent
Top day!! We start the ascent between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.; first through a winding path, the path is a mix of good path with some demanding trails over moraine rocks and loose ground until reaching the glacier, after 2 to 3 hours we will arrive at the glacier where we will equate ourselves with crampons, harnesses and ropes.
Most of the way is not very steep or technically difficult, although the altitude makes it challenging. Depending on the season, there may be some short steep sections or hard ice and even a few crevasses to get over. We try to reach the summit in the early hours of the day. At the summit there is ample space to walk, appreciate the incredible surrounding mountains such as the gigantic Chacraraju, the Artesonraju (Paramount logo mountain), Huandoys, Caraz, Huascaran, Alpamayo and others. Then we will descend to the Morrena field where we will have our rest, lunch and continue to the base camp.
Day 03: Base camp – Cebollapampa 3800 m – Huaraz.
Hiking time: 2 hours approx.
This day we will descend to Cebollapampa, where our transport awaits us to bring us back to Huaraz.
ALTERNATIVE: The other alternative that we can try is to walk towards Laguna 69 and then descend towards Cebollapampa, this option will take more time but the views during the journey are impressive. (4 to 5 hours of walking)
